HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
I have taken a new approach to relationships (working, marital, social...) by following this advice I've picked up. BELIEVE A PERSON FROM THEIR ACTIONS, NOT MY ROMANTICIZED VERSION OF THEM. Face value. Period.
This simple advice has really rocked my world, and as I dive into more of my old wounds, past behaviors, triggers, and unbalanced perceptions - this advice guides me in an authentic direction, unlike vague, fortune cookie advice such as "you have to love yourself before you can love others". I can get out of my head and million thoughts of what is, was, and will be and FOCUS ON REAL ACTIONS and measure REAL RESULTS.
With this approach, I also apply it to my procrastinating self. It makes me look at reality, not fantasy. It gives me my POWER BACK - to know what my supports are and aren't - where I need to pick up the pace and to whom I can delegate tasks to. Living in the clear NOW is EMPOWERING and gone are biased perceptions, distracting expectations, and (cringe) cheap lip service.
This gem of advice is like learning a new formula that suddenly makes all math problems easy! And now I LOVE math! (I've always loved math, especially finding that trick or formula that makes it easy - or at least a fun riddle I enjoy to solve!) So, back to to "math" class I go - and maybe I'll have that fortune cookie while I'm at it.
